Connection (Conjunction)

Conjunctions

A conjunction is a word that "joins". A conjunction joins two parts of a sentence.
Here are some example conjunctions:

Coordinating Conjunctions	Subordinating Conjunctions
and, but, or, nor, for, yet, so	although, because, since, unless

We can consider conjunctions from three aspects.

Form

Conjunctions have three basic forms:

• Single Word
  for example: and, but, because, although
  
• Compound (often ending with as or that)
  for example: provided that, as long as, in order that
  
• Correlative (surrounding an adverb or adjective)
  for example: so...that

Function

Conjunctions have two basic functions or "jobs":

• Coordinating conjunctions are used to join two parts of a sentence that are grammatically equal. The two parts may be single words or clauses, for example:
  - Jack and Jill went up the hill.
  - The water was warm, but I didn't go swimming.
  
• Subordinating conjunctions are used to join a subordinate dependent clause to a main clause, for example:
  - I went swimming although it was cold.

Position

• Coordinating conjunctions always come between the words or clauses that they join.
  
• Subordinating conjunctions usually come at the beginning of the subordinate clause.

VIVAnews - Ingin berkirim pesan ke artis atau selebritis idola langsung di Facebook? Maka anda harus rela merogoh kocek dalam-dalam. Pasalnya, Facebook akan menerapkan bayaran bagi mereka yang ingin berkirim pesan pada orang yang tidak termasuk dalam jaringan pertemanan.

Salah satu contohnya adalah mengirim pesan ke Mark Zuckerberg, pendiri Facebook. Biasanya, jika seseorang di luar jaringan pertemanannya ingin mengiriminya pesan, maka akan masuk ke "mailbox" yang lain, yang belum tentu akan dibalas atau sekedar dibaca.

Namun Desember tahun lalu, Facebook mengatakan akan mulai menerapkan berkirim pesan berbayar. Jadi jika ada siapapun yang ingin menghubungi Zuckerberg, maka akan langsung masuk ke inbox pribadinya.

Namun untuk menikmati layanan ini, para pemilik akun akan dikenakan biaya. Awalnya, Facebook belum akan mengumumkan berapa jumlah bayaran tersebut.

Situs Mashable akhirnya mencari tahu dan menemukan bahwa untuk menyurati Zuckerberg, Facebook mematok harga US$100 atau sekitar Rp972 ribu.

Harga yang sama juga berlaku untuk bersurat ke COO Facebook Sheryl Sandburg, CFO David Ebersman, dan beberapa petinggi laman media sosial ini. "Kami tengah menguji harga tertinggi untuk melihat kerja sistem pemfilteran spam," kata perwakilan Facebook dilansir CNNMoney.

Surat berbayar ini akan menjadi salah satu sumber pemasukan Facebook ke depannya. Sebelumnya, kebanyakan penghasilan Facebook berasal dari iklan. Nanti, pemasukan Facebook akan diambil langsung dari satu miliar anggotanya yang ingin menyapa selebritis. (adi)
